Day 2 started with an early ride on the cable cars. If you want to avoid the lines and actually ride with non-tourists get there at 7:30am. We rode the cable car from the Cannery to Union Square and much to the surprise of the conductor decided to walk back. The ride was fun and Alexis had her flower to keep her interested. We jumped off at Union Square and started our walk back to Fisherman's Wharf.
Our walk back was either well planned or lucky because it was pretty flat or downhill most of the way. The one exception was Coit Tower, but we knew that was going to be a big hill. Our trip back led us through Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, and back to the Wharf. Here is Alisa and Alexis in Chinatown.
Coit Tower sits atop Telegraph Hill. It was an epic climb that seemed to never stop. We traded off pushing the stroller, felt the burn all while Alexis sat there with her dum-dum.
After we made it back from Telegraph Hill we hit Pier 39. It was loud, smelly, and the only place we encountered bugs the whole trip. Alexis liked it, calling out "dog" in her slow drawn out voice everytime she heard the barking.
Alexis and I took a ride on the double decker merry-go-round. She did not want to ride on a horse and instead went for the tea cup style ride.
From Pier 39 we went over to Boudin for lunch. I got a bread bowl (ahhh gluten) with clam chowder, and Alisa got a bread bowl with chili. Alexis had some yummy Chipolte. After lunch we went down to Ghirardelli Square and had a sundae. At around 2:30 we hit the hotel for some well deserved nap time. After nap time we got picked up by Ashley and Aaron for dinner back at there place. To see how that went check out Alexis's seating arrangements on Ashley's blog here.
