Alisa and I headed out of town for our Anniversary to Chattanooga. Our short overnight stay included trips to Ruby Falls and Rock City, shopping downtown, and a regatta. Apparently, unbeknownst to us, the 2nd largest regatta in the US is held on the river the weekend we were going. This made accommodations a little harder to find, but not impossible. We had never been to a regatta so we decided to take it in. About 1 hour is all you really need, I mean it is boats, oars, and rowers, not a lot to it. We found out that the course was a 5,000 meter river course. Meaning put your boat in row up river 3 miles, get in line, start paddling, keep paddling for 3 miles as fast as you can, and fastest time in your group wins. We had never thought about it, but some of the larger schools probably have 100-125 rowers on their teams. Some schools have two to three boats for each 2, 4, 6, and 8 rower teams, both men and women. The money associated with this sport and event was unreal.
